The owners of award-winning Awaroa Winery on Waiheke Island, needed a new ecommerce website to elevate their visual identity, and streamline their stock management and sales processes.
It was clear from the start Awaroa Winery had a unique story to share with their potential customers. To capture this in a way that was true to the Awaroa brand, it was important to showcase beautiful visuals and a clean, minimal aesthetic.
A core part of this project was creating visual content to showcase on the new website. This included a day trip to the winery with a trusted photographer and videographer to capture images and video (including drone footage) of the winery and the stunning setting in the Waiheke bush.
Video footage and interviews with Awaroa winemaker Dr Steve Poletti and tasting room manager, Lyn, allowed us to create a powerful brand video to introduce the winery, its story, and the ethos that drives it.
Video was also used in the above-the-fold (top section) of the website’s home page to draw visitors into the website, through the beauty of the vineyard and its surrounding location.
Mock-up images for each bottle of wine were created and the Awaroa label placed onto the mock-up, to ensure a clean consistent background.
The aesthetic developed for the website took inspiration from the feel of the winery itself - an inviting, down-to-earth, family-friendly, boutique. Awaroa is a special place and this needed to be conveyed throughout the website.
A major part of this project was giving the Awaroa team up to date ecommerce functionality on the website, so they could manage stock and streamline online sales. This included their wine club membership, which had been largely paper-based.
To do this I integrated the Rocketspark ecommerce platform with Awaroa’s point of sales software (VEND) that is used in the tasting room. This integration provides real-time stock management so they don’t oversell any of their limited edition wines.
Finally a quick touch up of the Awaroa logo to make sure it was consistent across all marketing materials and a new brochure to promote their Wine Club completed the work for this project.
From start to finish the project lasted 8 weeks and was awarded Rocketspark’s Partner Site of the Month for April 2020.
